Rooted in sustainability and inspired by the unique stories of those who inhabit a space, Janette approaches design with purpose and intention. Each environment she creates becomes a reflection of its users’ culture, values, and narratives. Believing that spaces should do more than simply function, she ensures they resonate—honoring traditions, fostering meaningful connections, and leaving a lasting impression through thoughtful, sustainable design

Thesis Project

Kanlungan Residence, Janette’s thesis project, envisions an assisted living facility that responds to the growing need for culturally relevant eldercare within Canada’s Filipino community. Rooted in the values of connection, respect, and heritage, the design integrates traditional Filipino elements to create a familiar and supportive environment for aging residents. Through warm materials, shared gathering spaces, and culturally inspired details, the residence fosters a strong sense of belonging, bridging care with cultural continuity.
