Thesis Project

Darcy’s thesis project – Pawcific Horizons – is a community space with a cafe, animal shelter, and training centre. Located in Ladysmith, BC, the goal of Pawcific Horizons is to bring attention and education to people who are new to and want to learn more about pet adoption and training on Vancouver Island. As Darcy has never had a pet, she wanted to create a safe space for learning the basics of animal care, somewhere that she would find helpful should she adopt a pet in the future. The design itself draws inspiration from its natural surroundings of West Coast living- forests, mountains, and the ocean and aims to create a serene sanctuary where people and animals connect in an atmosphere that embodies warmth, discovery, and natural beauty.
