Thesis Project

Shayla’s fourth-year project, the Nanaimo Center for the Arts, is designed as a creative hub that fosters community through art. The project was inspired by the understanding that creativity thrives in an environment where people feel free to explore, create, and share. Shayla wanted to design a space that supports both experienced artists and those simply curious about creative expression. Drawing on local materials and earthy tones, her design creates an atmosphere that encourages connection, exploration, and respect for the artistic process.
